The soft hackle sow bug has been around for quite a while. Mostly made famous on the Bighorn River in Montana. For sometime thats the only place that I fished it. Until one day I decided to try it elsewhere. This is a fantastic actractor pattern, searching pattern and a pre runoff and runoff fly. I know the sow bug term may put this in a class of tailwaters but that is not the case. When this fly is wet, its buggy and bright. I've put a lot of faith in this pattern over the years for a reason. It really works. Try it on your favorite tailwater or freestone stream. I think you will be surprised with the outcome. These flies are tied to order.
